One of the most important issues for a 3D printer’s user is the filaments. Just as a vehicle user it is as important as the comfort and safety of the vehicle fuel, for a 3D printer user the filament is very important. As Masfen Machinery which aims to inform the users of 3D printers about filaments in the most accurate way, we will share an article about how many meters we can get from one kg of filament.
Filaments are sold all over the world as well as in our country by weight. However, users are wondering about the length of their weight. However, some 3D printers are calculating what they need from filaments in meters for the product to be printed, while others are calculating in grams. Our experience finds that its more complicated to perform length-based calculations. Because it is necessary to convert it to grams, the filament density, filament diameter and length information are needed.
Filament lengths vary according to the filament raw material. For example, filament ABS is PLA or HIPS or something else. The material is important for filament length.

PLA Filament Length:
1kg of filament length of 1.25 g / cm3 of grain.
Approximately 330 meters for 1,75 mm.
Approximately 110 meters for 2,85 mm.
ABS Filament Length:
1 kg of filament length of 1.04 g / cm3 density
Approximately 400 meters for 1,75 mm.
Approximately 140 meters for 3,00 mm.
